Musician, model, television presenter, poker player…female PokerStars pro Liv Boeree epitomises the term ‘multi-talented’.

Glamorous brunette Boeree was born in Kent, England. She excelled academically, gaining a degree in physics with astrophysics from the University of Manchester.

The mathematical element to physics no doubt laid the foundation for her entry into poker.

Boeree was nurtured into poker by esteemed pro Phil Hellmuth on the reality TV show ‘Ultimatepoker.com Showdown’, which aired on Channel Five. This partnership would later prove to blossom as she joined Hellmuth on the Ultimate Bet pro roster.

Inspired by Hellmuth and Duke, Liv forayed into the poker industry, reporting for Gutshot TV at the 2006 WSOP. Photogenic and confident, she hosted Challenge TV’s on-line coverage of the European Poker Tour, and provided magazine columns for Bluff Magazine Europe.

Despite her success as a poker journalist, Boeree wanted to prove her metal on the green felt. Her $42k triumph in the Ladbrokes Poker European Ladies Championship was the platform for more success, as she finished a credible 37th in the WPT $ 25k No Limit Hold'em event for $40k.

Boeree cemented herself as a true star when she clinched her maiden EPT title at San Remo for a handsome €1,250,000, joining the likes of Vicky Coren as female EPT winners. She blitzed Kakob Carlsson in heads-up, earning plaudits for her aggressive play, and sealed the victory when her pocket fives held up against the Dane’s A6.

Boeree’s triumph thrust her fully into the poker limelight, and she was rewarded with an Ultimate Bet pro contract, alongside former mentors Hellmuth and Annie Duke. After making three cashes at the 2010 WSOP, Liv parted ways with Ultimate Bet when contract negotiations broke down.

PokerStars were quick to pounce, and in late September, she joined fellow poker hotties Vanessa Rousso on the professional roster.

Away from the felt, the beautiful Boeree has posed for glamour magazines Maxim and Loaded. She considers herself a rock chick, and is an avid electric guitar player. Liv has earned the respect of her peers, with Daniel Negreanu dubbing her, ‘likeable, well spoken, attractive and hard-working’.

Boeree’s San Remo win along with her consistent tournament cashes show her poker credentials, although she faces stiff competition from the likes of Kara Scott and Vicky Coren to cement herself as Britain’s number one lady.

Liv Boeree must pursue cash game glory if she is to be mentioned in the same breath as Jennifer Harman, Annette Obrestad and Vanessa Rousso, arguably the leading female players on the planet.
